AI marketing for bookkeeping businesses
The data entry half of this job is being automated out from under the profession, and the advisory half is the part nobody markets. Flo publishes the second one.
BLS projects the clerk occupation to shrink by 6% this decade and names software as the reason. The firms that survive it are selling something the software cannot do.
Written for a job that is changing underneath you.
Which bookkeeping business are you?
A network running bookkeepers across markets, a firm with staff and a client roster, and a bookkeeper working alone are all facing the same automation pressure with completely different room to move. Pick the one that matches what you run.
Bookkeeping use cases
Four jobs the platform runs on a bookkeeping account, aimed at the work software cannot do.
Sell The Interpretation
Not the categorization. What the numbers mean is the part with a future.
Draw The Line Clearly
What you do and where a CPA or an EA takes over, said plainly.

Other professional services firms we set up differently
Bookkeeping sits next to the other practices where software is eating the routine half of the job.
Marketing by company size
The same platform, framed by how many people bill, not by what you advise on.
You have questions. We have answers.
What comes up on the first call with a bookkeeping business.
Is automation really a threat?
BLS projects the clerk occupation to decline 6% between 2025 and 2035 and attributes it directly to software automating the tasks. That is a projection rather than a prophecy, but the direction is clear enough to market against.
What should we be selling instead?
Interpretation. Categorizing a transaction is a solved problem. Telling an owner why margin dropped two points in March is not, and that is the content that repositions a bookkeeping business as something other than a cost.
Where is the line with what a CPA does?
State law draws it, and the usual shape is that a non-licensee may not use the CPA title or issue reports on financial statements, while preparing returns, advising and preparing statements without reports is permitted. Check your own state's wording rather than borrowing another's.
Clients think their software replaced us.
Some of them will leave over it and come back. Publishing what actually goes wrong in an unreviewed set of books shows clients what the review protects them from, and almost nobody writes it.
