AI marketing for online courses and coaching businesses
The FTC has spent years going after online programs that promised students they would get rich, including a 2024 sweep that targeted AI-themed schemes promising online earnings. Honest course creators benefit from that, because buyers are skeptical. Flo writes marketing built on specifics, not income claims.
Online courses sell a transformation someone can get from home. Buyers compare dozens of options and trust the creator who shows real knowledge and realistic results.
Written for the skeptical buyer.
Which kind of course business are you?
An online course business with a team and a catalog, and a course creator working on their own, both sell learning from a screen. Pick yours.

Marketing by company size
The same platform, framed by how many classrooms, studios or locations you run, not by the subject you teach.
You have questions. We have answers.
What comes up on the first call with an online course business.
Can we share student income results?
Carefully, if at all. The FTC has put more than 1,100 businesses on notice about false money-making claims, and its 2024 Operation AI Comply targeted schemes that promised big earnings. Share what students learned and built, and avoid income promises.
Does the Business Opportunity Rule apply to courses?
Most courses fall outside it, but programs sold as a way to make money can come close. The rule requires a disclosure document at least seven days before payment and a formal statement for any earnings claim. Check with counsel if your offer looks like a business opportunity.
What content sells courses?
Real teaching. Free lessons, clear examples and student work show buyers what they will get.
What are the email rules?
CAN-SPAM requires honoring opt-outs within 10 business days and including a valid postal address. Your list is your business, so keep it clean.
