AI marketing for drop ship businesses
On 29 August 2025 duty-free de minimis ended for imports from every country, and a lot of drop ship margins went with it. What still works is a store people trust enough to pay a real price.
The model that ran on cheap goods crossing the border duty-free has to run on something else now. The best candidate is a brand.
Written for a model that just changed underneath you.
Which drop ship business are you?
A store with a few people, a supplier list and a customer service inbox, and a one-person operation testing products, are both working out what a store looks like after the duty change. Pick yours.
Drop ship use cases
Four jobs the platform runs on a drop ship account, all aimed at trust rather than trend-chasing.
Honest Shipping Times
Real delivery windows on the page, because long surprise waits are what sink these stores.
Look Like A Real Store
An active feed, an about page and answered reviews.
Earn A Second Order
Email to buyers who were happy, which is the only cheap customer you get.
Handle The Delay
Drafted notices when a supplier slips, so a late package does not become a chargeback.
Other retail businesses we set up differently
Drop ship sits next to the other online sellers competing for the same scroll.
Marketing by company size
The same platform, framed by how many doors or storefronts you run, not by what you sell.
You have questions. We have answers.
What comes up on the first call with a drop ship store.
What actually changed with de minimis?
Imports valued at $800 or less used to come in duty-free. Executive Order 14324 suspended that for all countries from 29 August 2025, the suspension was continued in 2026, and a statute repeals the exemption outright from 1 July 2027. Landed costs went up and they are not coming back down.
So is drop shipping over?
The version that competed only on the cheapest possible price is in trouble. Stores that pick a niche, show real delivery times and write to past buyers give customers reasons beyond price.
Why do shipping times matter so much?
Because the FTC's mail order rule applies to you like anybody else. If you do not state a time you are expected to ship within 30 days, and if you slip you owe the buyer a clear choice between waiting and a refund.
How do we stop looking like every other store?
Write your own product pages, answer reviews in a real voice and post something that is not a stock video. Most of your competitors use identical supplier assets, so anything original stands out.
