AI marketing for marketplace sellers
Pass $20,000 a year on a marketplace and federal law says buyers get to see who you are. You have a brand whether you built one or not, so it may as well be a good one.
A marketplace listing hides the seller right up until it does not. At that point, whatever a buyer finds when they search your name is your reputation.
Written for sellers who are about to be named.
Which marketplace seller are you?
A brand selling across several marketplaces with its own site on the side, and a third-party seller working one platform from home, both depend on a channel they do not control. Pick yours.
Marketplace seller use cases
Four jobs the platform runs for marketplace sellers, mostly off the marketplace.
A Brand Buyers Can Find
Something real when a buyer searches the name on your seller page.
Traffic You Own
A site and a list that still work if a listing gets suppressed.
Answer Reviews Everywhere
Replies on Google and your own site, where the platform cannot moderate them away.
Explain The Product
The questions that clog your seller inbox, answered once on a page.
Other retail businesses we set up differently
Marketplace selling sits next to the other online models competing for the same buyer.
Marketing by company size
The same platform, framed by how many doors or storefronts you run, not by what you sell.
You have questions. We have answers.
What comes up on the first call with a marketplace seller.
What does the INFORM Act actually require?
Marketplaces have to collect and verify bank, tax and contact details from high-volume sellers, meaning 200 or more sales and $5,000 or more in any 12 months, and recertify them yearly. Sellers above $20,000 a year also get their name and contact information shown to buyers. The obligation sits on the marketplace. Your risk is suspension if you do not supply what they ask for.
Why build anything off the marketplace?
Because the marketplace can change its fees, its search and its rules with a notice email. A small site and a list of past buyers are the only parts of the business that stay yours when that happens.
Buyers are searching our name now.
Then give them something to find. A real site, a live social account and answered reviews are what separate a business from a string of letters on a seller page.
Can we email marketplace buyers?
Mostly not, under platform rules. What you can do is build a list through your own site and inserts that point there, which is why having something worth landing on matters.
